Irrigation and Water-Supply Studies in Albania

STREAM Sh.p.k. provides hydrological and hydraulic support for irrigation and water-supply assessments in Albania. Studies connect water availability, demand, storage and conveyance with the operating conditions and planning decision of the client.

Which water-management decisions can the study support?

Screening the suitability of a source; assessing seasonal water deficits; comparing rehabilitation or development options; estimating storage needs; and reviewing gravity-fed, pumped or combined conveyance arrangements. The scope distinguishes existing observations from estimates and examines the relevant dry-period conditions.

What can irrigation work include?

Source and reservoir water balances, seasonal irrigation demand assumptions, command-area constraints, canal or pipe conveyance, pumping requirements and comparison of water-efficiency options. Crop, soil and irrigation-practice inputs are defined with the relevant specialists and client. Savings are evaluated for the specific scheme rather than promised as a general percentage.

What can water-supply work include?

Review of source yields, abstraction and demand assumptions, storage, conveyance and hydraulic constraints. Where distribution modelling is required, the available network, elevations, demands and operating records are checked first. Water-quality testing, treatment design, hydrogeological exploration and detailed structural or electromechanical design are separately defined specialist inputs.

What information is needed?

  • Study boundary, service area, population or agricultural demand assumptions.
  • Source records, abstractions, reservoir levels and seasonal operating history.
  • Survey references, network drawings, channel sections and asset condition.
  • Pumping data, energy constraints, previous reports and development options.

What can the client receive?

A data and gap register, water balance, hydraulic assessment, option comparison, maps and a technical report. Outputs state source reliability, uncertainty, proposed further measurements and the limits of the assessment. Feasibility, detailed design and implementation support are distinct stages, with responsibilities agreed for each.
