River-Basin Planning and Water-Allocation Studies

STREAM Sh.p.k. provides hydrological analysis and technical planning support for river basins, reservoirs and competing water uses. Studies help public bodies, utilities, irrigation managers and project teams understand availability, demands and management options.

Which basin-planning questions can be examined?

Catchment water balances, seasonal availability, surface-water inflows, existing abstractions, irrigation and supply demand, reservoir operation and downstream needs. Analysis can compare an agreed baseline with development, demand or climate scenarios and identify where water deficits or operational conflicts arise.

How are allocation options compared?

Represent the relevant sources, storage, demands and operating assumptions in a documented framework. Where suitable, water-balance or allocation models can test priorities, seasonal rules and supply reliability under agreed scenarios. Model choice follows the available data and question. Trade-offs and unmet demands are reported, rather than presenting one scenario as a guaranteed future.

What information is required?

  • Basin boundaries, river networks, monitoring records and source metadata.
  • Abstraction, demand, reservoir-storage and operating information.
  • Existing plans, environmental requirements and stakeholder priorities.
  • Proposed interventions, planning horizon and decision criteria.

What can the client receive?

A hydrological baseline, source and assumption register, water-balance or model files, scenario comparisons, GIS outputs and recommendations for monitoring or management. Environmental-flow assessment and ecological or groundwater specialist studies are defined according to the assignment. Technical allocation scenarios support the competent authority’s decision; they do not grant abstraction rights or replace permits.
