Bathymetry, Sedimentation and Wind-Wave Studies in Albania

STREAM Sh.p.k. supports the planning, coordination and interpretation of bathymetric, sedimentation and wind-wave studies for reservoirs, coastal waters and lagoons in Albania. Methods, field teams, equipment and specialist modelling inputs are selected for the assignment.

What can a bathymetric study provide?

A survey plan, referenced depth observations, a checked underwater terrain surface, contours, sections and, where appropriate, elevation-area-volume relationships. The client’s accuracy requirement, coverage, horizontal reference, vertical datum and water-level correction must be defined before fieldwork.

Access, depth range, water conditions, navigation constraints and required resolution determine the method and specialist survey team. STREAM does not assume that one instrument or survey method suits every site.

How is sedimentation assessed?

Changes in storage or bed levels require comparable surveys, compatible datums and an account of measurement uncertainty. A single bathymetric surface describes the observed bed; it does not alone establish a sedimentation rate. Sediment sampling, material characterisation, transport modelling and dredging design are additional scopes when required.

What can wind-wave studies include?

Review of wind and wave observations, available historical or modelled datasets, exposure and fetch, relevant water depths and the conditions required for the planning or design question. Offshore or nearshore modelling, transformation and specialist coastal processes are scoped according to the site and structure.

Observed, hindcast and scenario data are identified separately. Design conditions depend on the agreed technical criteria and adequate evidence. A short deployment is not presented as a complete long-term extreme-value record.

What can the client receive?

  • A source register and field or modelling method statement.
  • Referenced survey data, metadata, quality checks and agreed GIS/CAD outputs.
  • Maps, sections, storage results or wind-wave summaries appropriate to the scope.
  • A report describing coverage, uncertainty, missing information and further work.

What is needed for an initial proposal?

Provide the study boundary, purpose, existing surveys and datums, required outputs, field-access restrictions and deadline. Permits, vessel arrangements, equipment, survey execution and specialist design responsibilities are identified in the proposal.

See coastal and lagoon studies for the wider service scope and technical resources for monitoring guidance.
