Independent Hydrological and Hydraulic Review in Albania

STREAM Sh.p.k. offers independent technical review of hydrological and hydraulic studies for clients evaluating an existing design, feasibility study or development proposal. The review examines whether inputs, calculations, assumptions and outputs are suitable for the stated decision.

Which studies can be reviewed?

Bridge and culvert flood studies; river crossings; channel hydraulics; flood-protection concepts; stormwater drainage; reservoir and spillway hydrology; water balances; and the hydrological components of infrastructure or master plans. A review can support a client’s design-quality process or identify the additional work needed before a design update.

What does the review examine?

  • Traceability of rainfall, discharge, survey, terrain and receiving-water inputs.
  • Catchment boundaries, design-event selection and the stated technical criteria.
  • Model geometry, boundary conditions, roughness and relevant structures.
  • Calibration or other checks, sensitivity, flood outputs and uncertainties.
  • Consistency between report, model files, maps and proposed measures.

Requirements are established for the assignment and jurisdiction. A review does not assume that an existing model is correct because a recognised software package was used.

How are findings reported?

The client can receive a review memorandum or report, an issue register with evidence and recommended actions, annotated figures and a meeting to explain findings. The register distinguishes missing information, calculation or interpretation concerns, and further investigations. Conclusions identify which documents and model versions were examined.

Is review the same as redesign?

Review and redesign are separate scopes. Rebuilding models, commissioning surveys, updating detailed design or supervising works requires an explicit follow-on agreement. Independence and potential conflicts are checked before accepting the assignment. Structural and foundation design verification is undertaken only within an expressly agreed multidisciplinary scope with the relevant qualified specialists.

What should you send first?

Provide the terms of reference, study and drawing register, model files where available, source datasets, applicable client criteria, project stage and review deadline. An initial document check determines whether a focused review or a wider investigation is needed. Do not send confidential datasets through a public form; agree the exchange channel with STREAM.

Prepare your enquiry

Send the location, decision to be supported, project stage, available records and deadline through STREAM’s project enquiry page. Scope, team, deliverables and timetable are agreed after the initial review. Technical contact: Dr.-Ing. Klodian Zaimi, founder and Principal Technical Expert.
